Inspiring Frida. The “Frida’s Hands” piece is inspired in the self-portrait she dedicated to Dr. Eloesser in 1940.
She gifted him this painting, where she presents herself wearing hand-shaped earrings, that Pablo Picasso had given to her. These earrings are a reference to the “milagros”. In Mexico, the milagros are pieces made of wax or ivory, in the shape of a body part that a person wishes to get healed. People leave them on the altar of a saint, usually the saint they have been praying to.
