The earrings are inspired by Frida’s artwork “Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird” (1940) where the artist represents her suffering and pain, alongside her strength and resilience.
From this artwork, full of symbolism, we chose the hummingbird, since it represents the luck in love in the Mexican folklore.
The earrings represent a hummingbird tied up to a stone (agate). This is an oval, magenta stone. This colour is usually identified with spirituality, youthfulness, and impetuosity. It expresses strength and excitement, but also delicacy, goodness, and compassion.
